The Work of: Therapy

What This Series Is

The Work of: is a series designed to explain how different therapy approaches work and help you understand the process of therapeutic change. Each piece focuses on a specific modality and breaks it down in clear, practical terms: what it is, how it works, what it helps with, and what its limitations are. The goal is to help you make informed decisions about your care and to better understand what to expect from the therapeutic process.

For many people, therapy can feel unclear from the outside. There are different approaches, different names, and different ways of working, but it is not always obvious how they differ or what the actual experience will be like. This can make it difficult to know where to begin, or what might be the right fit. This series is meant to make that process more transparent.

Rather than focusing only on techniques or terminology, each piece explores the underlying process of change: how the brain and body respond, how experiences are organized, and how they can be reorganized over time. Therapy is not just about the method being used. It is about the kind of work that method makes possible.

Each approach offers a different pathway.
A different way of engaging with what has been carried.
A different way of moving toward integration.

This series is an invitation to better understand those pathways, so you can make choices that feel more grounded, informed, and aligned with your needs.
